About the event
Welcome to the Withlacoochee State Forest! We'll be spelunking (dry cave exploring) through some of central Florida's most popular dry caves. The hike to the cave entrance is easy, about 0.75 miles. There are a few crawl-through sections we might access, depending on recent rain and whether they're open. We'll likely check out some of the other nearby caves too. Heads up: some of these caves have bats, so be prepared for that.
I'm excited for this hike with you all! I grew up in Citrus County and graduated from Lecanto High School just down the road, so I spent a lot of time out here with my buddies back then. I haven't explored these caves since high school, so I can't wait to get back into this cave system.
